Eczema

Eczema

What is eczema?

Eczema is a condition that results in inflammation of the skin, leading to itchiness and an angry red rash. It can affect people of all ages. If you suffer from bad eczema it can have a significant impact on your every day life, which may be difficult to cope with both physically and mentally.

Eczema is one of the most common conditions I treat in my practice. I’ve helped clients suffering from it in every degree of severity from mildly irritating to it’s full-blown health-devastating form.

A GP is likely to prescribe steroid creams and emollients, which may give short-term relief from the irritation, but won’t resolve it completely. To me, using cortisone cream is like painting a rickety old house that’s about to fall down. It makes it look better, but unless you address the underlying problems the house will still crumble eventually.

How can nutritional therapy help with eczema?

Eczema, like many skin conditions, can be a reflection of a deeper problem, an internal imbalance that often stems from poor digestion. If we fix this, you should find your eczema significantly improves. Through extensive research and first-hand experience, I know what works when it comes to eczema treatment. Together we’ll work through a three step process to get the answers you’re looking for and help you make positive changes to dramatically improve your health.

Step 1: Take a thorough case study

First we will discuss what has been going on so I can get a picture of all the symptoms you’ve been experiencing. We will take a non-judgemental look at your diet, identifying foods which might be healthy enough but simply not suited to your biochemical make-up.

Step 2: Perform functional tests

I will usually perform a full clinical analysis to check what is going on in your body and whether there is anything other than eczema that needs to be taken into account. I never look at symptoms in isolation – it’s important that we work to heal your body as a whole, not just the condition you are presenting with.

Step 3: Create a personalised nutritional therapy programme

Equipped with this information I will design an individual nutritional therapy programme for you. It will target any specific issues that we have revealed and should yield dramatic results.

How a tailor-made nutritional programme healed Josie’s eczema

When Josie came to me she was red raw and itchy all over due to terrible eczema. It was affecting all areas of her life, and she wasn’t sleeping due to the constant itching.

After a thorough case history taking I could see that Josie’s gut was very inflamed and that fragments of intestinal bacteria were passing through her gut lining and causing an immune reaction in her body. I ordered a food intolerance test to find out which foods Josie was unable to digest properly and a parasitology test as Josie had travelled extensively.

The results confirmed that Josie had a common parasite that was disrupting the balance in her gut and she needed to avoid certain foods until her body healed. I designed a supplement plan to eradicate the parasites and rebalance Josie’s gut bacteria along with a nutrition plan to soothe and heal her gut lining.

Within just five months, Josie was able to completely heal her skin condition. “My skin has completely gone back to normal,” she says. “The change is incredible. I can’t speak highly enough of Rosie Letts. She was friendly and made me feel comfortable and shared her extensive knowledge with me. I’m incredibly grateful. Thank you Rosie.”
